All 22 Film Breakdown: Jared Goff Best Plays of Week Four
Showcasing Jared Goff’s best plays from week four 34-20 victory over the Packers.
With a 3-1 start to the season for the Lions the excitement is high in Detroit. The Lions have done a great job of building their roster in recent years and with Jared Goff playing at a high level this is a very legit team.
Through four games Goff is the third highest graded quarterback on PFF as he’s thrown for 1,028 yards, six touchdowns, and three interceptions.
This includes Thursday’s performance where he threw for 210 yards, one touchdown, and one interception against the Packers. I have chosen five of Goff’s best plays from the game to break down using coaches all-22 film.
1st Quarter 9:04 left 3rd down & 5 at DET 41
The accuracy on this 3rd down completion to Sam LaPorta was pinpoint and the back angle shows how little of a window he had to complete this pass as the defender was in good position. LaPorta is able to turn upfield after hauling this throw in and turn this into 35-yard play.
1st Quarter 1:20 left 1st down & 10 at DET 25
Goff puts a good touch on this lob pass to the outside putting just enough on the pass to place it over the defender and into the hands of Josh Reynolds for a 26 yard completion. This is another great example of Goff being able to combat good coverage with a perfect throw.
2nd Quarter 2:50 left 1st down & 10 at GB 46
Scrambling and creating plays outside of structure isn’t a strength of Goff’s but he’s able to do just that here. Goff is able to elude pressure up the middle and find LaPorta for 11 yards.
4th Quarter 11:03 left 1st down & 10 at GB 39
Goff and the Lions execute play action better than most teams in the league and this play is a good example of that as Goff delivers a good throw to Josh Reynolds for a 20-yard gain.
4th Quarter 1:11 left 4th down & 3 at GB 24
The front angle of this play shows the velocity and accuracy on this throw from Goff to find Amon-Ra St. Brown for five yards and a conversion on fourth down.
